VISITATION TEAM 2009 – We hope
to establish a team of parishioners who will take
part in an outreach programme for the centenary. The
goal is to prepare a group of twelve “disciples”
who will dedicate one night a week for twelve weeks
to knock on doors and invite people to come to Mass.
We will have a few preparatory sessions so that you
know what to say and do and then we will commission
the team. Exciting! Could you offer yourself to serve
God for this targeted project? We will be recruiting
very soon.

FIFTY-SIXTH WORLD LEPROSY DAY – SUNDAY
25TH JANUARY The annual celebration of the
‘World Leprosy Day’ is a great appointment
of solidarity with our brothers and sisters who are
afflicted by Hansen’s disease that is often
ignored by the mass media but which still today strikes
each year over 250,000 people, most of whom live in
conditions of poverty. According to the most recent
calculations of the World Health Organisation, which
refer to the year 2007, in that year there were 254,525
new leprosy cases, with 212,802 people already being
treated for it. It is good and comforting to observe
that in this struggle against Hansen’s disease,
non-governmental associations and organisations are
present that go beyond religious, ideological and
cultural affiliations, all of which meet each other
in the common goal of bringing to those who are sick
the opportunity of regaining a state of social, health-care,
and spiritual wellbeing.

WORLD DAY OF THE SICK – 11 FEBRUARY

In his message of last year, Pope Benedict XVI strongly
called for a celebration of the World Day of the Sick

the diocesan and parish communities to celebrate the
World Day of the Sick’. We hope to incorporate
our monthly celebration of the Centenary Year with
the World Day of the Sick next month on 11th February.
