The Body & Blood of Christ

"Take this and eat", Jesus said, "This is my body. This is my blood, the blood of the covenant which is to be poured out for many." What an extraordinary love Christ has for us that led him to give us this wonderful sacrament through which he is our food and drink. And yet we become so used to the knowledge of it that we can even see it as a burden. But we do the same with our love for one another. In marriage and family life many people feel burdened by the demands of love. In parish life we can settle for a minimum. This week is a very special time to renew the sense of awe that should be ours when we think of the extent of God's love for us and the privilege of our love for one another. It is a week to cry out: "My Lord, and my God" and to say again to each other "I love you".

CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

THANKS – We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who helped in any way with the centenary celebrations to date. We are indebted to the numerous parishioners, visitors, committee members, team players, organising groups, individuals and those who assisted in any way. We have also received tremendous national and international support from people who used to live here and still love this holy ground. We have had a solid year of events so far in honour of St Columba and his magnificent church. We have found abundant good will and exceptional generosity from every direction. The Novena and the triduum which closed it has been an experience of great joy. We will remember these celebrations for the rest of our days. Deo gratias!

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART – Friday 19 June

Novena to the Sacred Heart
You have said, O divine Jesus, “ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you”. Relying on these promises, I come with confidence during this Novena to beg of you the favours that I need.
(Pause in silence for your intentions)
From whom shall I ask, Lord Jesus, if not from you, whose heart is an unfailing source of graces and merits? Most loving heart of my God, I believe in your power; I believe in your knowledge; I believe in your personal love for me. And therefore, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.
