SECOND CONFESSION will take place
for the P4 children of Long Tower Primary School on

NATIONAL ROSARY CRUSADE –
it is the hope of the organisers that every parish
throughout Ireland will assemble on the 13th of each
month from May to September (Apparition dates of Our
Lady of Fatima in 1917) to recite the Rosary. The
second of these will take place on Wednesday in Long
Tower at 7:15pm followed by Mass. All welcome.
OPEN-AIR MASS will take place in
the Brandywell Stadium on Thursday (14th June) at
11am. The “Fan the Flame” initiative is
focussed on the Primary 7 children, to encourage them
to live the Faith into which they have just been Confirmed.
The P7 children from all over the diocese will attend
the Mass with their schools on Thursday morning.

monthly meeting will take place on Monday, 11th June
at 8.30 pm.
VISITATION OF THE HOUSEBOUND
MONSIGNOR McCANNY will visit the
sick in his care in the following areas on Monday
11th June: St Columb’s Wells, Barrack Street,
Cooke Street, Durrow Park, Windmill Terrace, Abercorn
Place

SERVICE OF INTERCESSION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE
DIED
The Service of Intercession for our dead will take
place on Sunday, 10th June in Ballyoan and Altnagelvin
cemeteries at 3:00pm and in Ardmore cemetery at 6:00pm.
A bus will travel to Ardmore leaving Chapel Road at
4:30pm (sharp) and calling at Trench Road at 4:45pm,
returning immediately afterwards. We ask those who
are travelling by car to co-operate with stewards,
disabled parking will be available at the upper end
of the new cemetery. Please try to be in the cemetery
at 5:50pm.
A collection to help maintain the
upkeep of the cemetery will be taken up at all gates.
We thank you in anticipation of your generosity. We
ask people to dispose of any waste in the appointed
area of each graveyard.
The sale of flowers in Ardmore on this evening is
strictly by arrangement with cemetery committee.
We thank people for their ongoing care of their family
grave, we ask God to reward you and we pray for all
our deceased loved ones.
CEMETERY SUNDAY The Annual Service
of Intercession for the Dead takes place in the City
Cemetery on Sunday, 17 June at 6.00 pm.
A sincere thanks to Margaret
Keys and all the cast of ‘The Sound of Musicals’
for the wonderful entertainment they provided in St
Columb’s Hall. Also thanks to the many volunteers
who helped over the three nights. £4084.00 was
raised for the Church Renovation Fund.
PRO LIFE DEVOTIONS on Tuesday 15th
may in St columb’s Church, Chapel Road, Waterside,
commencing with Rosary at 7.00 pm followed by Mass
at 7.30 pm. Everyone welcome.
MONTHLY DEVOTION in honour of the
Divine Mercy will take place in Nazareth House Chapel
on Tuesday, 12th June at 8.00 pm. All welcome. Individual
blessing with the relic of St Faustina will take place
after the devotions.
DERRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES 16th
– 21st July. The closing date for applications
for the pilgrimage was 31st May. There are still 23
places available. If you are interested in going please

from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm and
Thursdays from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm.

ARE YOU STRESSED? THINGS GETTING ON TOP OF
YOU? Stress can affect our quality of life
and make us both physically and emotionally ill. The
Foyle Tranquilliser Initiative is organising a free
stress management programme in the Old Library Trust,
Creggan. The course will teach you how to recognise
the signs of stress and learn practical relaxation
techniques. The dates for the two day course are :

AGE CONCERN GARDENING COMPETITION 2007
Age Concern Derry are currently seeking entries for
their annual Gardening Competition for older people.
The competition is open to all gardeners over 60 living
in the Derry City Council Area. The competition is
divided into sections comprising Gardens, Window boxes,
Vegetable plots and Patio /enclosed walled Gardens.
Various prizes, including the Age Concern Derry Perpetual
Cup for Best Overall Garden, will be awarded. The
closing date for receipt of entries is Friday 6th
July 2007. Judging of the competition will take place
during the month of July. To obtain an entry form
